CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — January 3, 2019 — Mavendog, LLC sponsored the NC4ME Military Employment Leadership Summit in December. Our own Jon Vordermark was one of the panel speakers, who shared our Mavendog business case for military hiring as a key part of our consulting workforce strategy.

“We’re so pleased to have Mavendog’s support,” says Stuart Ruffin, Stuart Ruffin, Executive Director of the North Carolina Military Foundation and Director of Operations for NC4ME. “Their value proposition is perfectly suited for those companies that want to see what military teams can do in the business world.”

Originally planned for 19 September 2018, the event was moved to mid-December, in light of the challenges with Hurricane Florence. NC4ME, based out of Jacksonville, NC, was in the storms direct path, as was Charlotte, NC. Thus the event was moved to December 19, 2018.

The summit was a hit, attracting a wide audience and impressive speaker list. Vordermark was joined by fellow speakers:

  • Secretary Larry Hall, NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs
  • James Banner, VP Human Resources, Pike Corporation
  • Kimberly Lindsay Williams, Executive Director, NC4ME & Chief Human Resource Officer, City of Jacksonville
  • Ron Bogle, State Chair, ESGR or North Carolina
  • Laurent Longin, Director Talent Acquisition, Duke Energy
  • Samantha Fentress, Ex. Director, Global Strategic Talent Acquisition, Sealed Air
  • Derrick Ware, V.P. Software Engineering, Dude Solutions

“We are excited about what Mavendog is doing to create a positive employment environment for service members and veterans,” says Kimberly Lindsay Williams, Executive Director, NC4ME. “We are thrilled to have Jon share that with the summit attendees.” Kimberly facilitated the panel discussion, asking questions such as:

  • What are some of the advantages you have identified as a result of hiring and retaining military talent?
  • What is your organization is doing to attract and retain military talent?
  • Can you speak to the specific training/career development you provide to ensure veterans are successful in your organization.

“It is humbling to be part of this event, both as a speaker and sponsor,” says Vordermark. “Military hiring is tied to both our cause marketing and recruiting strategies. This NC4ME forum allowed us to put our message front-and-center, while educating the audience about how consulting and project management work is such a natural fit for military personnel moving into the private sector.”

As outlined by NC4ME, the event is designed for senior level leaders from the private and public sectors who are ready to hear what some of NC’s leading employers are doing to support our nation’s military workforce. Attendees walk away with a new understanding of how military talent drives business results, and how to integrate military hiring into their business strategy.
