How Service Members Use the Mavendog DOD SkillBridge Program

DOD SkillBridge helps service members connect with private sector employers and real-world job experiences to help them with civilian employment after discharge. SkillBridge programs are no more than 180 days and coincide with the service member’s last months of active duty.

While DOD SkillBridge industry partners like Mavendog prepare transitioning service members for civilian work in a specific field, participants are not entitled to a job with the partner (or their clients) automatically at the end of the DOD SkillBridge program.

Most companies won’t hire you until you are 60 days out from the end of your service. I did a SkillBridge project with Mavendog, who was great in providing me with the civilian project leadership tools and knowledge that I didn’t necessarily obtain from the military.
