CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — October 25, 2019. One of Mavendog’s more personal sponsorships is the Park Sharon Athletic Association (PSAA). The PSAA is a boys and girls youth athletic association located in south Charlotte, NC. The funds go to maintain the programs and fields, and provide player scholarships for families. “We’re a non-profit organization run entirely by parent volunteers,” says Chad Cook, PSAA’s Sponsorship Coordinator. “The League would not be possible without the support of our community partners like Mavendog.”

“It is a great time, for both kids and parents alike,“ says Jon Vordermark, Mavendog President. “It’s easy to understand why the PSAA is such a Charlotte institution for youth sports, whether it’s basketball, cheerleading, baseball, and softball, ” says Vordermark. “But it’s so much more than that. They understand the wider community mission to teach these young men and women the importance of fitness, friendship, sportsmanship, and teamwork.”

This Fall season, Jon Vordermark stepped in as the coach of one of the PSAA Tee Ball baseball teams — our Mavendog, LLC/Park Sharon Sharks! So why are they not called The Mavendogs? “The kids pick their own team name,” says Vordermark. “Plus, sharks are en vogue, particularly Baby Sharks. Mavendog can’t compete with Baby Shark jingles and marketing power.”

The Tee Ball season wrapped up in late October. And how did our Sharks do? “Well, we don’t keep score at the Tee Ball level,” says Coach Vordermark. “But as far as the kids are concerned, the Sharks went undefeated.”
